It struck me a few years ago: in the churches I've been a member of, we've had doctors, policemen, guards, nurses, dentists, real estate agents, teachers, school principals, secretaries, accountants, auto mechanics, carpenters, pilots, privates and colonels, painters, general laborers, lawyers, scientists, unemployed, hotel inspectors, even a state senator and a governor--but I don't remember ever meeting a reporter.
I have The Case for Christ right beside here at the computer table.
ReplyDeleteWe have had young people who went on to become reporters, both from our church and from my children's Christian schools, but they don't now go to the churches of their youth, and probably not to any.
ReplyDeleteMy parent's suburb-of-a-big-city church had, when I was growing up, a TV morning-show host who was I guess a sort of newsreader, and sports reporters and a TV meteorologist.
ReplyDeleteMy current church had a walk-in this year who has become a regular, who moved into town after being hired in from the midwest as a reporter by our local NPR affiliate. She seems to be doing well there.
That's good to know.
