13 Seeing from a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 And He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!”... 20 As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. That's a pretty significant demonstration. I wonder what his disciples were thinking about it the rest of that day. Of course Jesus gave everybody a lot to chew on that day, but...
28 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: as soon as its branch has become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door. ... <== 21 And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ’; or, ‘Look, there He is’; do not believe it; 22 for false christs and false prophets will arise, and will provide signs and wonders, in order to mislead, if possible, the elect."
I'd not connected those 3 passages before. Just a thought about what Jesus thinks of the false prophets...
