I was playing about with
the world radio site. I discovered that Australia has its own country/western music, and that
truckers are a part of their mythos too. I hadn't thought of that before, but it makes sense. It isn't a small country.
There are still lots of things I ought to know but don't.
Back in the day, I had a cassette player with a short-wave radio. As I was fairly busy, I didn't spend much time doodling with the short-wave radio. One time I tuned into Radio Moscow, when the USSR was still around. The announcer was giving answers to questions from listeners. One question pointed out that in a capitalist economy, those employed in radio lacked job security. They could readily be laid off. The reply came that in the USSR, layoffs in radio wouldn't happen. "In Moscow, we have four radio stations."
ReplyDeleteThat gave the game away. NYC and its metropolitan area had and has a lot more than 4 radio stations. I suspected that a city of 100,000 had at least 4 radio stations.
The announcer did speak flawless American English.
