In some fiendish lair, brainstormers are trying to figure out what color of strings of lights go with inflatable pumpkin pies and pilgrim hats. Perhaps something that flickers the colors of a flame in a fireplace would complement the ten-foot high turkey? The decorations need to incite the neighbors' envy while not giving passing drivers the mistaken impression that they advertise a restaurant.

ReplyDeleteMy wife, who is originally from Iran, is so enamoured of Christmas decor that she asked me to have our Xmas tree up for a longer period each year. Eventually I decided to have the tree up all year and decorate it for the different seasons with addtions for various holidays. Currently it is decorated for autumn with fall leaves, pinecones, pumpkins, orange and purple lights. I had added some poppies on November 1st, after taking down a few Hallowe'en bulbs, in recognition of Remembrance Day here in Canada and today I'm taking the poppies off the tree. We also try to decorate around the fireplace in a suitable seasonal fashion.
