It looks like Kamen's plan is better. I was tinkering with a low tech BFI approach that used a couple of large tanks and lots of tubing
(focusing on local construction and repair), but he went with an electrical system. Harder to repair, but with Coke's delivery infrastructure that doesn't matter so much.

i don't know that I'd give up just yet. There is the purely intellectual curiosity of of making something work; there is the the possibility of some fatal obstacle that makes Kamen's attempt less workable; there is the possibility that his works in 80% of situations but somethibng else is needed in other situations.
One big headache is corrosion.
