Healthy eating

The Mediterranean diet is all the rage these days, and it doesn't look too bad--though I'm more of a fish in moderation sort. Beans and nuts are some of the basics of the diet. I'm not sure which category Theobroma cacao falls in but it has to be one or the other--and thus should be a staple.

Chocolate, Coffee, and Red wine, all good for you. The latter does sometimes give me a headache, though.

The huge foundational level of the food pyramid - grains - is now bad for you, especially if there is any family tendency to diabetes.

It's not just reversal, and eat-what-you-want, because I think we are closer to the truth now than 30 years ago. But theories of what should work, because it would be So Cool if it were true, are dangerous.

And, unfortunately, that family tendency is all too close.

I have a suspicion that any diet will have tradeoffs, and that the most useful trick is moderation. Which is quite difficult to achieve when faced with a fresh hot baguette or a heaping bowl of red beans and rice.
