Interesting. I have always thought of that story as being a condensation of the forty days - that there were hundreds of temptations in hundreds of forms, which He saw through for the essentials they were and packaged that for the disciples for understanding. Yet maybe he expanded on them at length to illustrate them.
One of the big ones, after the first few days, would be "What good am I doing here in the wilderness?" I think there've been times in all our lives when that question comes up--though sometimes I'm not where I ought to be. But - maybe when warning about the temptations around them. Warning about the Pharisees was startling enough that they recorded it, but surely that wasn't the only thing He warned about.
