But "SuperBookDeals" claims to have it available already, second hand. I assume they won't ship until they actually get a second-hand copy, and thus delivery might take a while, but that's a curious business model. "81% positive over the past 12 months"

Maritime oddity

Today's Maritime traffic has a very odd feature: from about Ecuador to French Polynesia is a purple column of what is mostly classified as "Pleasure Craft" (without a name). One suggestion I heard was "Maybe a race?"

Google vs DuckDuckGo datapoint

Blogger is a google project, of course. I wanted to find a link to a quick review I'd done of a book, on blogger. Google should be able to keep track of it's siblings, right? The result on google was "Your search - "1177 b.c." site:idontknowbut.blogspot.com - did not match any documents."

DuckDuckGo pointed me to the post I wanted.

The google settings include SafeSearch ON (locked on by the browser, apparently). I can't think of anything terribly unsafe or offensive about the post, and IIRC D.D.G. used a safe search by default. The results were the same w/ chrome and firefox.

Trades

It struck me a few years ago: in the churches I've been a member of, we've had doctors, policemen, guards, nurses, dentists, real estate agents, teachers, school principals, secretaries, accountants, auto mechanics, carpenters, pilots, privates and colonels, painters, general laborers, lawyers, scientists, unemployed, hotel inspectors, even a state senator and a governor--but I don't remember ever meeting a reporter.

Cell phone call curiosity

Apropos of nothing much--I've gotten several robo-phone calls in Chinese from Chicago and LA numbers. We don't pick up, but they leave a message. The family cell phone numbers are sequential, and one of the others gets them too. Chinese spam can't be that cost-effective in the USA.

Probably it's targeted advertising--sort of like the East Coast college emails I've been getting for a year that are actually intended for a high school junior. Cheer for the almighty algorithm!
