C.S. Lewis strongly recommended
On the Incarnation of the Word by St. Athanasius. I finally got around to reading it. Yes, read it. It's short and the language is clean--it doesn't need lots of explanatory footnotes. He explains why the Incarnation is fitting and offers proofs for the divinity of Jesus.
I notice that he brings forward among the proofs of his case both the lives of Christians and miracles. I wonder what he'd refer to if he wrote today.
Lewis also recommended Boethius. Cheers for CCEL!
