"Ignorance is bliss"

After prayer meeting this morning I brought up the question about why would God need to test us. Doesn't He already know what's in our hearts? Is it because I have to know it? Maybe because testing makes it real, not just potential.

Yes, we need to know it. Yes, Abraham is the great example. Another is Peter denying Christ three times, and then Jesus asking him three times if he loves him, a repetition that carries directions for an action.

Your second part also rings true, though I had not thought of particles and spin. We can say many things, and even mean them. We can be deeply sorrowful for our sin. But until we actually do something about it, the repentance is not an actual thing in the world. It is a theory only.

That's just it. God doesn't give a rat's patootie about what is "in our hearts". He wants to see what we will do in real life.
