Not a panacea

My biggest takeaways from "Going off psychiatric drugs" are that
  1. My intuition that using drugs for mental illness is a form of "percussive maintenance" is not that far off the mark. They're life-saving for some people, but just because A is melancholic doesn't mean A can benefit from B's meds for depression.
  2. The process of stopping a medication takes a long time and can be harsh. Do-it-yourself scheduling is not a good idea.
